Full time Urologic Transplant Surgeon at Vancouver General Hospital and Surgical Director of the VGH Renal Transplant Program, with GFT Associate Professor Academic appointment with the University of British Columbia and research interests in Applied Sciences in Surgery, computer vision, ultrasound imaging, augmented/virtual/mixed reality systems development, surgical robotics, ischemia-reperfusion injury and organ preservation technologies and Transplantation Science. Decades long experience in medical education serving as Postgraduate Program Director for the UBC Department of Urologic Sciences and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Urology Specialty Committee. Elected to Board of Directors of the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons and serving on the CPSBC Nonhospital Medical and Surgical Facilities Accreditation Program Committee to review all private health care technology operating in facilities throughout BC. Chair of the Kidney Surgical Subcommittee of Canadian Blood Services to coordinate transplant surgical services and operational oversight of the national Kidney Paired Exchange Transplant Program. Current research interests center on adjunctive technologies to assist in remote diagnostic and therapeutic operations from a clinical, technological, educational and regulatory perspective. Ongoing interests include startup ventures leveraging clinical expertise and input and have served as Chief Medical Officer of UBC initiated startup, Sonic Incytes, and concurrently served on BOD leading to multimillion dollar successful Series A financing.
