Machinist Mate (SS) operate, maintain, and repair life support machinery, auxiliary equipment, such as refrigeration and oxygen/nitrogen equipment. I operate and maintain pumps, heat exchanges; perform retest, transfer and inventory of lubricating oil, fuels and water, and maintaining log how much transferred between systems. Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from work stations. Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and assemble equipment when repair are completed. Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and part for defects to ensure proper functioning. Position machinery, equipment, physical structures, and other object for assembly or installation, using hand tools, power tools, and moving equipment. I lubricate or apply adhesives following PMS instruction by wearing correct PPE instructed HAZARDOUS chart. Read work orders and specifications for determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance. Replace or repair machinery parts with new part, and studying old damaged and/or worn parts for whats is cost for damage. Train fellow sailor on basic/advance use of equipment and plants operation by following PMS and operating manuals.
