I interpreted both MOD and wider HMG standards to specify and document IT security policy. I provided practical advice to project managers, engineers, the MOD authority and senior management on implementing IS security policy within a diverse and challenging business and academic environment. I authored all SyOPs and ensured they were issued and accepted by users, colleagues and contractors. I wrote and delivered information security briefings to civilians, MOD personnel and students; coordinated the response to all security incidents, whether identified locally, or remotely by the MOD, and acted as liaison between the MOD authority, the MOD accreditor, technical teams, IT service management and users. I maintained the IT risk register, coordinated risk management activity and chaired the IT Security Working Group. I carried out a DPA review of a large personnel database application and investigated the security requirements for a tablet PC/e-reader trial. I provided occasional second line technical support to a number of network systems including the SSL VPN and firewalls. I held national security vetting clearance. -
