Additionally focused on leading the organization to realize the full potential of innovation through IP assets including developing and implementing IP monetization strategies that enhance business outcomes for our businesses. Supported Lonza Pharma & Biotech businesses with engineering and automation related technologies and Lonza Specialty Ingredients businesses including Wood Protection, Coatings and Composites, Water Treatment, Consumer Health and Nutrition, and Consumer Product Ingredients. Increasing responsibilities included negotiating and settling IP disputes with competitors, drafting, revising, and interpreting commercial and IP contracts, IP portfolio management and development, FTO and clearance searching, and IP budget management.

Practice included patent litigation in the chemical, mechanical and electrical arts with a primary focus on Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical patent litigation, patent preparation and prosecution, performing FTO/clearance searches, analysis, and drafting related opinions. Clients included multiple Fortune 500 companies in the semiconductor, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries.

Practice included patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation support, post-grant procedures, strategic counseling of IP portfolios, IP due diligence in venture finance deals, trademark prosecution, and copyright infringement issues under the DMCA. Majority of time spent handling patent preparation and prosecution for variety of Fortune 500 companies in diverse industries including aviation, oil & gas, medical device, healthcare, and entertainment.

Negotiated, drafted, and revised agreements for manufacturing automation business group. Developed strategies to utilize the Patent Prosecution Highway and other global initiatives.

Collaborated with clients to synthesize research ideas into written grant proposals, including Small Business Innovation Research Grants and Ohio Third Frontier Program Grants. Wrote, optimized, and implemented bovine blood testing protocol for glucose sensor membranes. Led statistical analysis of a blood pressure clinical trial. Performed endothelial cell counts for an arterial implant proof-of-concept study.

Served as project manager for expansion of a cationic waste water treatment system. Initiated and led research of systems aimed at reducing E. coli and Salmonella spp. in beef products. Designed improvement to oils handling system to increase shelf-life of oils. Created a committee aimed at decreasing tension between union and non-union employees by increasing hourly employee knowledge of company operations.
