Littleton Fire Rescue (LFR) provides exceptional emergency response services and life safety education programs to the citizens of the City of Littleton, the Littleton Fire Protection District (LFPD), and Highlands Ranch Metropolitan Districts (HRMD). This service is provided to approximately 250,000 people residing in a 92 square-mile area. Emergency response services include: fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) water emergency rescue and recovery, as well as wildland fire suppression.In 2017, LFR responded to approximately 18,000 calls for service from nine fire stations located throughout the service area. Seventy percent of those calls were medical emergencies and LFR Medical Units transported approximately 12,000 patients to local area hospitals for treatment. Additionally, each LFR fire apparatus is fully equipped for advanced life support capabilities.LFR’s Fire Prevention Division manages code review and revision, plan review, code enforcement, and fire/arson investigations. Prevention in Littleton is unique due to the historic downtown buildings which require and unique approach to implementing life-safety initiatives.The LFR Communications Center has unified with Metcom, a regional dispatch center. This unification comes after several months of analysis and study to determine the highest level of service, greatest safety improvement and long-term financial sustainability. We are proud to partner with Metcom dispatch and look forward to a solid relationship!The life safety educator provides programs for all age groups. Special events, such as station tours, open houses, and ice cream socials provide opportunities to teach in an entertaining yet meaningful format. Educational programs include: Juvenile fire-setter program; Life Safety Education presentations, Bike helmet safety, characterization team, and Kids Mini Fire Academy.
