Also addresses sustainable design and construction practices for MEP, including minimization of energy consumption and carbon footprint.Instructor for SBSY 5250 - Building Energy Performance SimulationCourse Description - Simulation and modeling of a building's energy performance has become an important part of the sustainable design toolkit. It is used to assess design concepts and to predict building energy consumption and performance and is often required for code compliance, utility incentives, and green building certification. This course will focus on the use of energy simulation as a design tool. It will cover the basic principles of energy simulation and how it can be used as part of the building design process. The spectrum of available tools that can be used for early-stage modeling, daylight and comfort analysis, and whole-building validation models will be reviewed. Interpretation and validation of results will also be covered, as well as code-required modeling protocols.
