CurrentI lead the Registry and Academic Affairs Department providing student journey services to the University of Nottingham student community. Registry and Academic Affairs look after all aspects of the student journey from registration to graduation, including module enrolment; visas and immigration; timetabling; assessments partnerships, placements and mobility; postgraduate research support; complaints and conduct; curriculum management; fees and funding; student service centres and online services.

My role was to lead, direct and manage Student Services operations teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to students and academic staff. Student Services support c.34,000 UK based students.Student Services provided a wide range of services, supporting students from registration to graduation. These include registration and induction; management of the student record; module enrolment and timetabling; curriculum management; management of coursework and marks processing; student progression and award; management of postgraduate research students; school welfare support; and the management of placements, partnerships and mobility. My teams provide these services to students both online and via 8 Student Service Centres. I also lead teams supporting academic colleagues based in each of the University’s Schools.Student Services was established as part of a major change management programme. I have had a key role in leading this change both within the new department and also by working in collaboration with other parts of the University, especially in Schools and Faculties, to build effective working relationships. A significant element of the programme is the transition to a new student record system and I have led and supported key elements of this activity.
School Manager (School Of Medicine)
My role was to direct the operations of a large academic unit of the University. There were c.2,500 students in the School of Medicine, including c.1,700 undergraduates. I managed c.220 administrative and managerial and c.80 technical staff. I was also the University’s Corporate License Holder under the Human Tissue Act.My role extended across the full range of the School’s activities including the “student life cycle” and support for the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. I was also responsible for the management of research support activities and took a lead role in the development and maintenance of relevant external partnerships supporting both teaching and research.
