As a Partner and Head of the Freeths' Thames Valley Employment Team , I specialise in dealing with staff matters. As Head of Freeths' national Schools and Colleges Team, I coordinate all the of the legal services we provide to schools and colleges.Having trained as both a barrister and solicitor, I am able to offer a rounded service to clients, including advocacy in the tribunals.My recent experience:- Appearing as an advocate in the EAT to overturn a preliminary finding leading to the complete dismissal of the claim against my client (an International Airport)- Successfully appearing as an advocate to defend a media sensitive client in multi-day tribunal proceedings for unfair dismissal and disability discrimination -Devising and supporting the soft-merger of a secondary academy and a post-16 centre with trade union involvement-Successfully appearing as an advocate to defend a whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claim on behalf of an operator of over 100 leisure and cultural facilities when a negative finding would have impacted on its crucial on-going relationships with it local authority clients-Advising high-profile clients, including a PLC, on complex and sensitive Subject Access Requests under the Data Protection Act until successful resolution-Advising a large education provider on the Equal Pay aspects of converting contributions into a final salary pension scheme into salary-Advising on the TUPE considerations of purported service provision changes in unusual circumstances with potential large financial liabilities -Supporting disciplinary and investigatory processes in 'high stakes' matters, including cases involving safeguarding considerations and very senior members of large organisations-Leading a project for the second-generation conversion of an academy into a MAT
