As a technical consultant I specialised in data management on various projects for financial services organisations, covering both banking and insurance. In recognition of my extensive experience across the suite of SAS technologies I was chosen as the lead for the London branch of Dufrain's internal SAS community, and also led a team in the construction and delivery of internal training materials on the subject of DI Studio, in order to prepare other consultants for certification.Major projects have included:Control Model development at a major bank - working largely autonomously I was tasked with the design, implementation, testing and delivery of control models for a large customer data warehouse to enforce business rules ensuring data integrity in credit data being sent to external credit rating agencies. I also improved many existing processes written by non-specialists, most prominently improving the efficiency and robustness of one error-prone process by 97%, eliminating unexpected errors.SSIS Developer at a leading UK insurance company - on the Operational Data Store project I took responsibility for the migration of financial data from disparate source databases into a central data store. As the more experienced Dufrain technical consultant on the project I also acted as an adviser and mentor for the other consultants involved.

As a senior developer I took on the role of technical lead in SAS DI projects at Partnership. I was primarily involved with Investments data, with a particular focus on Solvency II readiness and QRT generation.This role has given me a good working knowledge of Financial data (Investments and General Ledger) and regulatory requirements (Solvency II), alongside improvements to my ETL skills, including working for the first time with SQL Server and other Microsoft technologies.

Worked most recently on a DI project for a major financial company. In an effort to combat fraud and money laundering, this project involves extracting and cleansing customer data and loading it into a central data warehouse. The project is nearing the end of its first development phase, and as well as developing DI jobs I have been involved with design work, preliminary data explorations and profiling activities using Enterprise Guide, DI Studio and Data Management Studio.In between projects I worked in a technical support role, offering advice and assistance with all aspects of SAS, but with a particular emphasis on DI queries.Previously worked on an ETL project for a large-scale audit system. I was part of a large team of ETL developers with many different backgrounds, including consultants from various IT companies and independent contractors.I was involved in many stages of the project, including design, development, testing and support post-release. Although my main duties involved the development of ETL code I also created various utility programs to assist with metadata management and code version control. This project involved several different input file types, including flat files and various XML-like structures. Throughout the project I used several elements of the SAS ecosystem, including DI Studio, Enterprise Guide, Base SAS and XML Mapper. I also gained experience with UNIX, including shell scripting.
