My last assignment with the Ohio National Guard was a combat tour of duty in Iraq. During this deployment we were part of the second wave of troops into Iraq (OIF2), and we were stationed at multiple locations throughout Iraq. Initially stationed near the Iranian border and assigned to the 1st ID, we provided convoy security. Latter, we moved north into Kurdistan where I assisted in running the local Joint Operations Center. Our final assignment was with the 1st CAV inside Baghdad's "green zone" where we were commended by the Navy SEALs for assisting them protect US and Iraqi dignitaries.
