With a professional background in Florida with the U.S. Navy, Christopher Tynes is currently working toward a graduate degree in International Public Policy at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). His concentration on Strategic Studies focuses on strategy and policy creation with an emphasis on intelligence and defense, and he expects to graduate in 2014. Christopher Tynes also holds a position as community relations chairperson with the Student Government Association, which involves engagement with members of the campus and the greater Washington, D.C., community. Mr. Tynes earned his mechanical engineering degree at Pennsylvania State University and completed Naval Aviation Flight School studies in the early 1990s. His past leadership roles include responsibilities as P-3C Orion Aircraft and Mission Commander, Assistant Operations Department Head, and Adminstrative Aide to the General Counsel of the Navy on the Secretary of the Navy Staff at the Pentagon. His qualifications include completion of the Joint Air Operations Command and Control Course in Florida as well as Space Operations course in Colorado. He currently holds responsibilities with the U.S. Navy’s Tenth Fleet as Electronic Warfare and Information Operations Deputy Division Officer. Christopher Tynes has a passion for the outdoors and has completed lengthy backpacking trips in locations such as Glacier National Park and the Smokey Mountains.
