JanaCare is a biotech company that specializes in designing and developing mobile diagnostic blood test devices to aid in monitoring of chronic diseases or disorders such as diabetes, cardiovascular or renal diseases. JanaCare's device is mobile, utilizes colorimetric analysis, and whose blood test disposable employs a range of chemical and biological tests to detect various biomarkers for the purpose of diagnostic and monitoring. Currently I am involved on both their creatinine and potassium projects, where I work to develop and optimize their enzyme and ion-selective sensor for the detection of creatinine and potassium respectively. I perform DOE and statistical analysis on the performance of the sensor. I also develop solutions and methods to improve and optimize the performance, repeatability, design, materials, processing method, and manufacturability of blood test disposables. I have performed enzyme kinetics, micellar chemistry, spectroscopy and statistical analysis, quality control, and more. I have also prepared appropriate documentation, protocols, and progress reports and participated in meetings to evaluate current experiments, research, protocols, and future direction of projects.

As part of my master's project, I worked on a small team to develop a novel cardiovascular implant that would allow the placement of leadless pacemakers in the atrium to treat patients requiring atrial pacing. I interviewed and shadowed physicians and hospital staff at the BMC in the Arrhythmia/EP labs and identified a clinical need to be met. I designed, prototyped, and verified the device. I led a team of engineers through project timeline to ensure deadlines and deliverables were met. I preformed risk analysis, FMEA, human factor analysis, patent and IP review, FDA regulations, and developed a business plan for development and commercialization.

I worked at the Department of Ophthalmology at BUSM. There I designed experiments, planned procedures, organized necessary materials to investigate the occurrence and pathology of primary open angle glaucoma, POAG. I investigated the activation, location, and signaling pathway of TGF-β2 and linked age related loss of SITR1 to POAG. I have experience in performing immunohistochemistry, ELISA, microscopy, statistical analysis, and established cell cultures. I have managed and trained a team of interns, set goals, and scheduled personnel responsibilities. I have also participated in meetings, evaluated projects, and presented weekly progress reports.
