Responsible for the development of new data science capabilities for the US commercial business with a focus on projects based on deep learning. Accomplishments in this role include developing and deploying a population-scale content recommendation & audience targeting engine for a >$1B/year brand. I also created 4Sight, AstraZeneca's capability to predict disease state progression at the patient level and send smart suggestions to the field based on these imminent opportunities. I dedicate most of my hours to hands-on work, though I'm frequently called in as an advisor to brand teams, central functions, and to other data science project teams. Many of the capabilities my team and I work to develop have their origins in the underlying needs identified in these advisory engagements.Whether leading, building, or advising, I find myself engaged in efforts at the largest possible scales in the industry. Advanced Analytics acts as an internal consultancy across therapeutic areas at AZ. Day-to-day, I am working hands-on to design and implement modeling methodologies for AZ's full array of commercial programs, creating machine learning solutions in conjunction with IT, and working with several steering committees to redevelop legacy business processes for automation. While my passion is statistics and ML modeling work, I also derive great satisfaction from streamlining and simplifying business processes by introducing automation.Utilizing physician & patient data (syndicated & in-house) to probe the effectiveness of the business's efforts, I design new commercial and experimental measurement methodologies to optimize commercial budget allocation within brands and across the product portfolio.
