Classification Officer
Current• Conduct thorough classification reviews, ensuring eligible inmates have opportunities to participate in program service offerings per classification policies.• Develop detailed classification reports, outlining inmate histories, present situations, and future plans to inform staff effectively.• Advise, collaborate with and oversee the classification board, contributing to recommendations for appropriate inmate placements within the facility.• Act as a point of contact for inmate inquiries, facilitating communication between inmates and other departments to resolve issues.• Correspond with external agencies, particularly those related to criminal justice, to obtain information on inmates' work history, social and educational background, and current status.• Organize and maintain inmate records relevant to classification, ensuring compliance with established facility policies and procedures.• Conduct interviews with inmates, adhering to relevant facility guidelines to gather information for classification reviews and reports.• Perform various Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS/CORI) inquiries for classification reviews/reports.• Assign inmates a classification/security level based on relevant information gathered through various internal and external departmental collaboration.
