For more than a decade Mr. Wharton has performed an extensive amount of bioassessment data collection and modeling throughout the United States, from coastal bays and estuaries to marine habitats and freshwater lakes and streams. Mr. Wharton has gained recognition as an expert in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) over the years developing custom applications for clients across the country that meet the needs of an increasingly digital world. His modeling and environmental sciences background provides him a solid foundation in understanding the various components of ecological communities and how they translate to overall habitat quality and human health. Mr. Wharton also has a well-rounded knowledge of the various tools used for today’s environmental assessment practices from hands on in-the-field equipment to statistical (Python, Arcade, Power BI, etc.) and geographic information systems (GIS, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, etc.). He has managed and developed custom watershed models for states and counties across the U.S. and has aided in the maintenance of large metadata databases of both natural and human health environments. Mr. Wharton understands the rapidly evolving nature of the digital world and the tools that are changing the way science is implemented. This change has made digital tools and programs essential to the 21st century scientist, such as GIS, GPS, AutoCAD, smartphone application development, digital field forms and host of other wifi enabled devices. Mr. Wharton has stayed on the cutting edge of these technologies and has been able to implement many of them into projects for both the private and public sectors. He is also able to utilize this skill set to transfer into the industrial and construction environment, helping clients to meet environmental management goals and regulations, while still understanding the need to adhere to engineering best practices and monetary constraints.
