A Senior Business Systems Analyst/Engineer within a specialist team of subject matter experts supporting HM Forces supply chain within the LAIPT and USSO as integrated elements of DE&S. Supporting 1st to 4th line information and communication systems worldwide. Managed Jointly by the Unified Systems Support Organisation and Logistic Network Enabled Capability the team were known as the Logistic Systems Support Team (LSST) implementing and delivering a number of projects; "as seen below" Unique to the military because of a wide range of Communications and Information Systems (CIS) and End to End (E2E) skill sets, with individuals specialising in specific skills areas making the whole team an extremely valuable Ministry of Defence Logistics capability, supporting a Tri-Service environment utilising Prince 2 methodology and ITIL framework infrastructure.

Responsibilities included Unified Systems Support Organisation (USSO) strategy, policy, risk management, project management, surveys, planning, design and unit move preparation. High level liaison with unit commanders, contracted suppliers, system managers and Permanent Joint Headquarters. The daily management of maintenance team personnel, incident management, equipment procurement and resupply from United Kingdom suppliers and partners. Presentation of proposed information systems solutions, equipment requirements and service delivery at command level meetings, planning logistics and communication requirements for logistic unit moves and relocation into various locations around the Middle East.

Unified Systems Support Team Usso - Defence Projects

A University work based assignment, development of a prototype consignment tracking equipment training kit for HM Forces supply chain personnel. Presented to high level stakeholders in command appointments securing budget and rationalising a much over complicated equipment set, by merging multiple systems capabilities into a single deployable platform, with a diversely adaptable portfolio of peripherals pre-configured to work out of the box. A solid prototype developed into an Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) for Ministry of Defence supply chain operations. Received MOD AWARDS for outstanding achievement, producing an effective operational capability, with a significantly reduced air freight requirement. Packaged and delivered into a man portable ruggedized flight case, complete with built in field office and storage capability.

Middle East Defence Projects

Relocation of all Logistic Information Systems (servers, workstations, communications equipment and peripherals) from a wired and RF network, into an active airport on a secure fibre desktop environment. This was a phased project, which included the facilitation of ground engineers, medical supply chain user community, electrical and mechanical engineers and Logistics Supply Chain personnel. High level liaison and engagement with estate managers, infrastructure project managers and HQ command appointments, completing tasks and phases on time, meeting critical milestones and site exit requirements.

Middle East Defence Projects

Liaison and engagement with Joint Force Communications and Information Systems HQ whilst implementing the initial Logistic information and communications systems infrastructure throughout a newly established military operations facility. Service Delivery of end to end supply chain nodes, terminating the supply chain and implementing the reverse supply chain for the return of high value assets. Planning the supply chain logistic information systems strategy when moving equipment out of operational areas for refurbishment or relocation. Providing logistic systems subject matter expertise support to the communications and information systems formation HQs and unit commanders in deployed operational areas.

United Kingdom Defence Projects

Project managed the migration of 4 independent Logistic Information systems user platforms onto a single portable device. Releasing a commercial contract from EDS/HP, taking on project ownership and making huge savings annually. Over 2000 PC devices, desktop and portable, supporting HM Forces supply chain. The operating system and applications were security assessed and penetration tested by LIAG exceeding accreditation standard delivering an operational capability. The OS image was distributable via a self booting DVD enabling military users to build, re-build systems on remote operations without on-site support. All builds became configuration managed with embedded video supporting each release version.

United Kingdom Defence Projects

A probation assignment research task to design an electronic interface between a United Kingdom mainframe based Ingress database on UNIX platform (Consignment Tracking System) VITAL, into a portable HP-UX Oracle database (inventory system) GLOBAL deployed worldwide (107 units). Injecting accurate system produced inventory data from an Oracle DB into an Ingress mainframe, reducing the need for swivel chair human input. A comprehensive documentation portfolio enabled contracted suppliers EDS/HP to implement the project as an urgent operational requirement (UOR). Implementation saved 1000s of man hours annually across the military supply chain.
