I founded EMERGICON in 2006 to fill a need in the ambulance medical billing services industry by providing a better solution for processing ambulance claims in Texas.Since that time, we’ve grown into Texas’ largest ambulance billing provider and experienced year-over-year revenue growth, including being named to the 2019 Inc. 5000 list for fastest-growing privately held companies. CfoCareflite Jun 2004 - Sep 2006Grand Prairie, Tx, UsIn my role as Chief Financial Officer for CareFlite, a nonprofit ambulance company, I increased cash collection more than $6 million by restructuring the entire billing process, implementing an electronic patient care charting solution, and educating the crews on reimbursement and clinical documentation. My responsibilities included direct oversight of billing, logistics, information technologies, human resources, corporate compliance, payroll, finance, and accounting.When I arrived at CareFlite, the company had no cash on hand, largely because of the poor service it received from a billing company. Within two years I turned around the business from being $1 million in the red into $1 million profit.The experience led to my realization that the billing industry must change and ignited my passion to found EMERGICON. I borrowed against my home and cashed in my 401k to follow my dream and change the way ambulance billing is handled in Texas. -
