Christy Womack Boston, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, started her dance journey when she was 2 1/2 at Jean Leigh Academy of Dance. Her training intensified when becoming a member of the JLA Dance Company from 1996 to 2004. She had the opportunity to dance in the New York City Disaster Relief Benefit and performed in the prestigious Tanzsommer Dance Festival which was showcased in three different cities in Austria.In 1999, she became an instructor for Jean Leigh in multiple dance genres. From 2002 – 2012, she acted as the Company Tap Director, where her dancers were awarded Overall Performance high scores. She continued to uphold the legacy that had been set in previous years by her Artistic Director and dance teacher, Dianna Jones.Academics has always been a high priority to Ms. Boston. She graduated 8th in her class from Belaire High School in the Medical Magnet Program, and in 2004, graduated Magna Cum Laude from LSU with a Bachelor of Science. In 2005, she began teaching first grade at North Corbin Elementary and has continued nurturing this age for the last 16 years. During this time, she has been a teacher of the year nominee and received the Teacher of the Year award in 2017.Christy has continued to work with Company dancers as a Tap choreographer and instructor, and in 2019, received a Choreography award for her overall-winning, Junior Tap piece "Jelly’s Jam."
