Speech Pathologist
CurrentI founded Wake Pediatric Speech Therapy in 2012 after having my first child and wanting to continue working in a field that I love while also having the flexibility to achieve a healthy work/home/life balance. The private practice world has been a huge blessing in that regard! The company has grown exponentially since then and we now have offices in Cary, NC, Clayton, NC, and Morrisville, NC. We have a staff of 16 SLPs, 3 office administrators, and also provide speech therapy services in local preschool centers and homes. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!) and went on to also obtain a Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Science from UNC-CH. I have over eighteen years of experience working with preschool through high school age children with varying speech and language needs. My areas of interest include treatment of articulation, early intervention, family coaching and education, social communication for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and general receptive and expressive language delays. I enjoy integrating speech and language therapy activities with social and academic activities in order for clients to make personal connections and to promote carryover. I was recognized as Outstanding Young Alumni from UNC-CH School of Education in 2006 for my work providing speech and language therapy services to children in the educational setting. Currently I enjoy working with families and educating them on how to turn their everyday routines and activities into increased opportunities to target their child's communication goals. I truly have a job that I love and have surrounded myself with a group of outstanding SLPs that have helped this company soar. I am always looking to add to our talented team of SLPs -- resumes and interest can be submitted to: cjohnson@wakespeech.com
