Global leader of digital health and insuretech. Investor, Founder, Professor and award-winning scientist with expertise in wearable devices, data science, insurance, pharma and rehabilitation medicine. I am the Co-Founder of Flora Fertility, bringing the first individually owned fertility insurance to market (heyflora.co), allowing women to plan and pay for motherhood on their own terms and timeline. As a Venture Partner at IA Capital in New York, I invest in insuretech, fintech and health, focusing on the intersection of insurance and digital health. On the advising side, I’m currently an Entrepreneur in Residence at Platform Calgary, advising exciting companies in Alberta. I also advise a number of businesses internationally in the areas of insuretech, wearables, medical data, digital health, clinical trials/FDA, lifestyle and wellness. My key areas of expertise are in developing digital Biomarkers, business development, and strategy. I am the Founder of Vivametrica, an insuretech company that analyzed data from wearable devices to predict mortality and disease risks, as well as to engage customers in wellness. Vivametrica was acquired in 2020. I continue to work with thought leaders in insurance to further align healthy lifestyles with insurance products. I’m Co-Founder of the Stanford Wearable Health Lab and a Visiting Professor in the School of Medicine at Stanford University where I am researching the impact of wearables on MSK health and outcomes. I also Chair the International Taskforce on lumbar spinal stenosis. I am passionate about the education of future health scientists. My research focuses on the application of technology for understanding and improving health in people with mobility limitations. I’m developing digital phenotypes to be used in personalized exercise prescription and clinical trials. I get most excited about physical activity science, predictive analytics, and the promotion of women and girls in STEM. I have 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband who I love taking all over the world on adventures.
