Developed and managed special initiatives for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), including:• Annual Power of Parents Conference: Helped develop an annual conference to increase CPS family engagement. The Power of Parents received a Magna Award from the National School Boards Association (2006). • Getting Your Child to the Next Grade Parent Workshop: Created program to help lower retention rate at CPS by providing parents with tools to help advance their children. CPS achieved record high student promotions that year (2003-04). • Attendance Improvement Initiative: Created and managed CPS initiative to increase student attendance achieving higher attendance by over 4,000 students resulting in millions of dollars in state aid (2003-2004). • Vendor Fair for Minority, Women and Small Business Enterprises: Co-developed and implemented a business fair for over 3,000 attendees to help them obtain contractual work with CPS, which led to CPS launching the Office of Business Diversity. • College Textbook Scholarship: Created an annual scholarship program with corporate sponsors, which awarded over $300,000 to over 300 CPS graduates.• CPS Homeownership Program: Created a program to support CPS employee homeownership in targeted developments and neighborhoods. • Back-to-School Parade / Back-to-School Campaign: Helped create and implement a public awareness campaign for the first day of school, which increased first-day attendance by more than 40,000 CPS students and increased state aid by $10 million.Created reports and communications work, including: talking points for the Board Members, a monthly status report summarizing policy issues presented for the Board's approval at the monthly Board meetings and Annual Reports to the State Board of Education highlighting CPS achievements.Strengthened relationships with the Chicago Board of Education and various organizations as well as parents and community members.

Managed projects and special initiatives for the Chief Fiscal Officer and Controller for CPS, including:• Managing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. • Preparing monthly reports on performance measures and projects in the Office of Finance. • Conducting financial software training to transition school clerks to an automated bookkeeping system and updated the Internal Accounts Manual.• Developing instructions and support for over 600 schools to complete an annual financial survey.• Creating a newsletter from the Chief Fiscal Officer to over 800 school clerks. • Facilitating cross-functional team meetings to enhance accounts payable operations.

Co-developed a resource guide for potential and current women business owners for Bank of America.
