● Lead Shift Engineer for one of five crews that operate and maintain the Moored Training Ship Sam Rayburn (MTS 635), an operational nuclear power plant for training the next generation of Navy nuclear operators● Managed the safe operation and maintenance of the nuclear engineering plant and safeguard systems● As a certified Master Training Specialist, trained and certified over 400 staff instructors, student technicians, and student engineers in safe reactor plant operations, the design characteristics of the engineering plant systems and equipment, and the proper procedures for plant casualties● Contributed to the Charleston training facility receiving a Meritorious Unit Commendation award by assisting with the on-time completion of the training ship’s maintenance overhaul availability and subsequent return to operation, as well as training 20% of the student nuclear operators for the fleet while the other three training plants were not in operation. ● As the Main Propulsion Assistant, managed nuclear machinery division, responsible for the operation and maintenance of the nuclear reactor plant fluid and mechanical systems, including the electricity generating and propulsion turbines, propulsion systems, and reverse osmosis pure water generating units● Led a division of 20-25 nuclear mechanics through an arduous nuclear reactor refueling, submarine overhaul, and conversion to a guided-missile submarine, ensuring the highest quality assurance standards● One of three shift supervisors responsible for directing all aspects of nuclear power plant testing, to include the hydrostatic pressure testing and initial critical and physics acceptance testing of the new reactor core. Received two Navy Achievement Medals for these efforts.● As the Communications Officer and Assistant Operations Officer, ensured the successful completion of numerous pre-deployment readiness and reactor safeguards external inspections through complex and extensive operational planning, while managing a division of 8-10 communication electronics technicians, contributing to the ship receiving the submarine squadron’s 2009 Battle Efficiency, Engineering, and Navigation awards.
