Throughout my career, I have made pivots and adjustments to find great opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Helping people and solving problems are core foundations to who I am as a person, and working in careers that allow me to do that has be rewarding and fulfilling! I pride myself on being a creative problem-solver that can improve processes and efficiency. I’ve even had a colleague coin the term “high work metabolism” to refer to how I am able to get a lot accomplished in a short period of time, without sacrificing accuracy or quality in my work.I’ve been fortunate to work at private and public institutions, in a number of different roles. Most of the past 8 years have been in the realm of career development! I’ve worked as a student-facing professional, coaching and guiding students to explore, evaluate, and align professional goals and careers. I’ve also worked with employers to help them connect with students through creative and engaging campus recruitment efforts. The best part of my career so far has been mentoring and supporting other professional staff, either as a colleague or supervisor, and elevating those around me to be their best professional selves. As a lifelong learner, I am excited about what my future holds. I continually challenge myself to be better, seeking improvement pathways both personally and professionally. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, improve, and lead in my roles, as well as develop holistically. Being creative, outside-the-box, and collaborative are all aspects that I continue to bring to any team.If you are looking for career advice or looking to recruit our incredible students, connect with me here or email me at cwashko2@kent.edu.

Director Of Career ManagementOhio University Nov 2020 - Jun 2021While supervising two professional staff members, 5 graduate assistants, and 13 undergraduate student workers, I had the opportunity to lead the Office of Career Management through the challenges of an entirely virtual year for student and employer engagement. Our team successfully coached students through the use of Microsoft Teams and coordinated interactions between students and employers through career fairs in Handshake, panels and other speaking events in Teams, and we even used mobile games to connect students and alumni! -
Associate Director Of Employer RelationsOhio University Jul 2019 - Nov 2020Athens, OhioTransitioning to Employer Relations allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I shifted my focus away from students (although I still coach and teach), and work primarily with employers who are interested in recruiting College of Business students. This opportunity allows me to work with recruiters in many different ways. I've enjoyed the challenges that have come with the recruiting aspect of career management.Through my role, we have developed in-person and virtual career fairs that continue to push our students and employers to greater heights, with increased attendance and satisfaction scores. My team has also developed relationships with employers to improve on-campus recruiting events and on-campus interview experiences, for employers, students, and faculty. -
Assistant Director Of Career ManagementOhio University Feb 2018 - Jun 2019Athens, OhMy main responsibilities as an Assistant Director were to support Accounting, Finance, and Business Economics majors as their career coach. It was amazing to dive into those industries, learn about trends and what our students were doing, and then connect them to recruiters and job/internship opportunities. I was able to prepare our talented students in the College of Business for going into professional settings and excelling.I also taught our Career Strategies courses (BA 2000), which focus on tactical career exploration and development. We educate our students on marketing their experiences, sharing their story, improving interview skills, and much more. This required class was a huge draw for me into the position, and I believe our students stand out among other candidates across the country. -
Career CounselorUniversity Of New Hampshire Aug 2016 - Jan 2018Durham, NhDuring my time as a career coach at UNH, I worked primarily with the College of Liberal Arts to provide career guidance and programming to a wide variety of students through one-on-one advising, workshops, and campus-wide events. Working with the largest college on the UNH campus provided a great challenge, allowing me to impact a large student population. Through collaboration with different departments, we focused on illustrating to Liberal Arts students the immense impact they can have in their careers, the vast number of opportunities and industries they were qualified to pursue, and how to translate their skills and experiences to best advocate for themselves on resumes, cover letters, networking, and interviews!Being an extremely collaborative professional, I was able to build relationships and acted as a liaison to different departments across campus, including Residential Life, Community & Civic Engagement, Athletics, and Campus Recreation. These relationships allowed me to work with different student populations in a multitude of different ways. -
Residence Hall DirectorUniversity Of New Hampshire Aug 2015 - Jul 2016Durham, NhI ran the daily operations of a residence hall of nearly 300 students, including directly supervising a staff of 8 RAs and a student administrative assistant. With a budget of $8,000, I provided holistic development for Freshmen through Senior students living in the hall.Programming is a passion of mine and I was able to do student programming within the hall utilizing a residential curriculum that supported holistic development of all residents. The curriculum had four initiatives: social justice, academic identity, campus involvement, and healthy living.I also served on our in-house career committee and technology committee that allowed me to explore passions outside of residential life. Through the career committee, I co-chaired our winter training for all RA staff members on career focal areas. -
Residence CoordinatorHeidelberg University Aug 2013 - May 2015Tiffin, OhServing as a Residence Coordinator at Heidelberg allowed me to develop students in many different ways. I oversaw housing for upperclass students in our apartments and houses on campus, as well as our graduate students during my first year, which was capped by seeing my only RA that year win “Outstanding RA”. In my second year, I added the responsibility of adding an entirely first-year residence hall to my residential “empire”. That addition also allowed me to increase my supervision of RAs to 7. Changing the culture of the houses and apartments, as well as the first-year hall, was a priority of mine. I implemented an educational program for all students living in the apartments and houses that focused on educating and preparing those students for what life was like after college. Engagement with these workshops increased, while incidents declined during my two years. In the first-year hall, my staff and I instilled a pride within the building through positive language, active programming, and utilizing the great things the building had to offer! -
Career Development Graduate InternHeidelberg University Aug 2013 - May 2015Tiffin, OhHaving tried multiple careers, it was great to learn about career development, and how I could help students along their career journeys. It became an incredible passion of mine and the career path that allows me to work with students in a direct way. Two years of learning and practicing techniques, strategies, and theories allowed me to provide great advice and tools to students who were progressing down their path.It was great to work with students who were just stepping on campus to those who were preparing to leave and start their post-grad lives! Being a campus of about 1,100 students, I had the chance to see, know, and assist a huge percentage of the population through daily interactions, one-on-one advising, and career related workshops and events. -
Summer Intern - Student-Athlete ServicesBowling Green State University May 2014 - Jul 2014Bowling Green, OhOnce again I had the opportunity to meld passions of athletics and student development. This experience taught me about NCAA protocol, eligibility, and resources available to student athletes at BGSU. In addition, I worked on two large projects during the summer; researching Student-Athlete Bridge Programs and organizing a Drive-In Conference for professionals in similar roles in Ohio. I compiled all research and pitched a prospective Bridge Program to be used at Bowling Green, and had the chance to participate in the Drive-In Conference with an attendance of nearly 20 professionals. -
Summer Intern - Residence LifeTiffin University May 2014 - Jul 2014Tiffin, OhAs Tiffin University Residence Life transitioned to full-time, professional Residence Coordinators, I was able to establish their training for these 3 individuals. Beginning with research, I looked at training procedures and resources at other institutions, spoke with schools who had recently made the same or similar transition, and updated and revised all protocols and materials for use at Tiffin. I then created the training schedule and program to be implemented in August for new staff members. -
Accounts Receivable & Billing4M Emergency Systems, Inc. Jan 2012 - Jul 2013Hudson, OhDuring my time at 4M Emergency Systems, I continuously increased my work responsibilities through hard work and quick learning. I spoke with patients, attorneys, and staff members regarding patient accounts on a daily basis while learning and educating others on insurance practices and payment protocols. I was able to take on the responsibility of handling month end close protocol for approximately 10 ER hospital practices. I also acted as an IT support professional who diagnosed and corrected issues within the office, and installed all new computers/printers for current and new staff.

Varsity Football CoachGarfield Heights City Schools Jul 2009 - Jul 2013Garfield HeightsBeing a former student-athlete, it was a pleasure to return to football as a coach. My passion for sports and student development made coaching an opportunity I couldn’t pass up, and I am so glad I didn’t. Above coaching athletes to have success on the field, watching those athletes go on to college, work, and become incredible men was and always will be the highlight of my coaching experience. While I coached the Bulldogs, I served as an assistant coach for varsity and head coach for junior varsity. In the four years I was there, I coached quarterbacks, receivers, defensive backs, and special teams. We spent countless hours on the field, and even more time studying film and preparing for practice and games.

Resident AssistantHeidelberg College 2007 - 2009Tiffin, OhAfter suffering a concussion that would end my football playing days, I was on the hunt for another way to serve as a leader at Heidelberg. A chance encounter with my Hall Director prompted me to apply to be an RA. I spent two years as an RA, one in a first-year only hall and one year in an upperclassmen building. During this time, I served as a resource and mentor to other students, while also providing programming in the halls.
