Lead a growing team of engineers and scientists to support the ever-changing landscape of Cell Therapy Manufacturing. Manage external collaborations, new application development, and technical customer support. Provide vision into technology and new product development roadmaps. Serve as primary technical lead within the Cell & Gene Therapies team; responsible for managing external scientific collaborations and technical due-diligence exercises for acquisition targets. Consult as subject matter expert for commercial development and global marketing groups; specific expertise in cell separation, cell therapies, cryopreservation, and closed-system design. Responsible for generation of product feasibility and development project roadmaps.

Responsible for developing software and UI design concepts for second generation cell washing and cell therapies devices. Direct feasibility efforts on a sterile volumetric pump and dispensing system. Engage in technology and patent reviews for research and development team.

Serve as primary system designer for two new lines of configurable closed-system cell washing devices. Lead project to research and devise a novel system for sterile connection of closed disposable tubing sets. Design mechanical, electrical, and software proof-of-concept/prototypes for new product feasibility studies. Manage work assignments and evaluate performance for a total of 11 engineering co-op employees.

Drafted new separation controls to reduce procedure times by 35% on next generation plasmapheresis platform; first significant procedure time reduction in 25-year device history. Developed new spinning membrane disposable components to improve separation efficiency through use of CFD and mathematical modeling. Revised vein control algorithm schemes to reduce nuisance alarms through clinical procedure data analysis.

Served as contract engineering support for Fenwal, Inc. Wrote requirement- and session-based testing protocols for plasmapheresis product lines. Performed system verification testing, data-analysis, and report generation for system hardware and software updates/change requests

Coordinated and taught five sections of a lab-based undergraduate biology course. Critiqued and edited 19 student-authored scientific articles. Provided individual tutoring and mentorship of a total of 102 undergraduates.
