As the Online Campaign Manager at the Abbey Medieval Festival, I'm one of 15 people in the Marketing team. My duties include: * Updating the Abbey Medieval Festival website through WordPress and Picasa;* Compiling and send Festival newsletters using Vision6, and assist the team where needed with other Vision6 communications;* Updating the the website and social media apps for the purpose of search engine optimization (SEO);* Prepare and implement some social media campaigns to sell and promote the Festival and events at the Festival;* Regularly update the Pinterest website, a new social media program, from the Abbey Medieval Festival Gallery images;* Write and send media releases as needed.

Councillor.My roles and duties as councillor included:* Advocating within council on behalf of the community for improved council services and facilities. This involved preparing budget submissions and liaising fully with a range of council staff.* Representing individual constituents who are requesting assistance from council, which required a high level of communications skills, particularly active listening.* Representing council within the community, and fully communicating council’s decisions to the community.* Participating fully within council meetings and playing a role within the collaborative decision making process.* Performing duties in accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act and other relevant legislation.* Responsible for planning and instigating stakeholder engagement strategies with various community organisations, regarding emergent local or controversial issues.* Responsible for my own communication plans and strategies in relation to emergent issues, including creating personal website and Facebook pages.

As a department Media and Communications Officer, my duties and responsibilities were:* Preparation of speeches for the Minister. This entailed liaising with the department about the relevant issues, editing and re-writing the draft speeches from the department and creating a speech suitable for delivery by the Minister.* Writing and distributing media releases for a variety of media organisations throughout Queensland. This again involved liaising with the department, and editing and re-writing the draft releases from the department.* Performing as the Acting Media Advisor whilst the advisor was absent on leave, which involved providing timely advice to the Minister on media management issues.
