About Chris Wiens
I am the Director of Human Resources for The Cedars. The Cedars is the oldest retirement community in Kansas dating back over 120 years. Previously I was a Corporate Talent Acquisition Recruiter for Pfizer from 2018 to 2021. From 2016 to 2018, I was the Organizational Development Trainer at Pfizer, McPherson. I was responsible for creating a Learning Culture at our site to increase employee engagement and retention. I was also the Site Manager for the PGS Rotational Development Program. This is a 2 year rotational program for young engineers entering the workforce. From 2014 to 2016 I was HR Business Partner at Pfizer (formerly Hospira) for the Vials and Engineering Business Units. Prior to Pfizer, I was with McPherson College for 10 years as Director of Career Services. My specialty is pairing students up with employers and making a good match right from the start. A good portion of my job is spent on internships. On average 40% of the McPherson College student body does an internship each year and 90% of the graduating class has had at least one experience while they were students. Having worked in Human Resources and business prior to coming to the college, I had seen what I refer to as "the good, the bad and the ugly" when it comes to young employees. Responsible for creating a "Learning Culture" at the Pfizer McPherson site for the purpose of improving site culture and employee engagement. Develop training programs, facilitate workshops and courses. Partner with local colleges to bring appropriate training to the site. As Site Manager of the Pfizer Global Supply Rotational Development Program (RDP), I am responsible for recruiting young engineers to a 2 year rotational program.
