I am a postdoctoral fellow within the transformative quantum technologies program at the institute for quantum computing. My team is building a Rydberg array quantum simulator capable of site-selective single qubit operations and a limited number of two-qubit interactions, as well as translation operations presenting the opportunity for novel graph connectivities and unitary compilation methods. As a theorist, I work to map Hamiltonians lacking analytical solutions (ground states or temporal… Show more I am a postdoctoral fellow within the transformative quantum technologies program at the institute for quantum computing. As a theorist, I work to map Hamiltonians lacking analytical solutions (ground states or temporal dynamics) to our platform. My work involves numerical modelling, pulse sequence optimization, quantum state tomography, Lindblad modelling and noise mitigation, and analytical research into problems of interest (that is to say, achieving quantum supremacy by some meaningful metric) on our platform. My PhD research developed new models and numerical algorithms for simulating Dicke's superradiance (SR) in physical regimes motivated by astrophysical data. SR is a cooperative emission phenomenon, in which an ensemble of atoms or molecules cascades through a series of highly entangled states via their coupling to the common quantized radiation field; the total radiative intensity transient generated by this Markovian cascade is characterized by intense peak emission and unique temporal… Show more My PhD research developed new models and numerical algorithms for simulating Dicke's superradiance (SR) in physical regimes motivated by astrophysical data. SR is a cooperative emission phenomenon, in which an ensemble of atoms or molecules cascades through a series of highly entangled states via their coupling to the common quantized radiation field; the total radiative intensity transient generated by this Markovian cascade is characterized by intense peak emission and unique temporal signatures. Highlights of my research included (i) a generalized diagrammatic method for studying velocity coherence from a highly relativistic SR source, (ii) a novel numerical algorithm capable of simulating transient features from a widely Doppler broadened SR source with O(n) complexity (cf. O(n^2) complexity of previous methods), and (iii) a study of the role of stochastic velocity distribution properties (ex., turbulence) upon SR temporal structure. Show less
