~ Provided general, technical design advice and support as required by the design teams.~ Provided technical advice on a new multi-floor internal staircase for a client in a downtown office tower. ~ Although not within IDPI's scope - we worked with the structural engineer team on site for a solution needed by the GC in constructing a mechanical service platform required for future maintenance work above an extremely high as well as extremely congested ceiling. ~ Developed and help in organizing the firm's business procedures, staff biographic documentation and general marketing documents.~ Arranged for in-house continue learning seminars for the staff. ~ Provided research and recommendation on best boom lift to use by client in a 14m high ceiling retail banking hall for future maintenance work. Including study of best access route into the client's space. ~ Secured new client for IDPI - Provided Feasibility Study to the Bata Shoe Museum. Expand the archive storage facility and increasing the overall artefact storage capacity .

~ Report to the partners, responsibilities included the daily administration and management of the Toronto office and on-going maintenance of the firm's Archival Records. ~ Chris was responsible for scheduling and arrangement of the office move from the iconic 32 Davenport Road site to the new location. He took extra steps in the proper distribution and relocation of the well known artworks collected and displayed in the office over the years. He found new owners for all the huge potted plants as well as most of the 'smaller' trees and shrubs in the garden, including all interior the red wood ceiling and wall claddings, most built-in furnishing before vacating the building before demolition.~ At the new office, he continued the important task in research and scheduling Continue Education and helped raised the knowledge levels of the MTA staff. He arranged for timely seminars when needed as well as responsible for the weekly Lunch & Learn programs. ~ With approval from the partners, Chris took on the extra responsibility as the firm's unofficial Archivist. ~ Chris was responsible for transporting old files to the off-site archival storage facility as well as providing any necessary expansion, reduction and maintenance when required. He organized, arranged and managed all archived material donations to government institutions and universities benefiting the owners with welcome tax credits.

Chris was able to multi-task taking parts simultaneously in design & production work teams while performing his management tasks.Over time, he became the firm's official Storage Design Specialist. Projects where he had prime responsibility: ~ Reference Library - The Marilyn & Charles Baillie Special Collection Centre, previously the Arthur Conan Doyle (ACD) 1st Edition Collection Storage. Developed conceptual design, architectural details including circular stairs and gallery, back-of-house book depository, light-weight concrete sectional tables, ACD period library, meeting room and display cases.~ The Canadian War Museum - Responsible for artifact inventory, concept development and design detailing, fabricator capability research. Specification work, tendering and award. Project administration and commissioning. Also included as part of architectural team, responsibility included: millwork, retail store design, reflected ceiling, the corten steel design of the Main Ticket Office and the design of the Material & Reference Library on the main floor. On material handling - recommended CWM's portable air-bearing transport system for relocation of heavy tanks & armoury in the public display area.~ The Niagara Falls History Museum (NFHM) - a challenging project with an extremely low budget that included Inventory, design and special negotiations with both the fabricator/supplier for the new storage system as well as with the City of Niagara Falls for 3rd party fabrication of custom wall mounted storage racks and a fume hood in order to cut expenses. ~ Parks Canada - lead design role in the planning and the design of a storage system that will house the client's entire diverse collection of artifacts from 6 different locations across the nation. A growing collection of more than 25 million pieces of artifacts.

Some notable projects:~ Nokia HQ Building: Design leader responsible for client contact, project planning, interior design and Project Administration. Responsible for all construction documentation, interior fitments and procurement. ~ University of Toronto, Science Research Building, Scarborough Campus - Laboratory Planning and Interior Design. Research and specification, interior finishes and furnishings.~ The Delegation of Ismaili Imamat, Ottawa - Interior and Architectural responsibilities: interior and exterior Stairs & Ramps. Private residence for HH the Aga Khan. ~ Queenston Plaza Redevelopment - a boarder crossing between Queenston, Ontario and Lewiston, New York. Detailing for interior and exterior Ramps and Stairs, Cash Drop steel vault and safe. Toll Captain Office & Control Room, Cafeteria, Laboratory & Warehouse, including the special double deck Toll Booths and underground connecting passages.~ Brock University - Wellness Center - architectural team member responsible for all hardware, ramps and stair, running track facility.~ McMaster University, University Centre - Interior design and space planning. Construction Details, ceiling design and detailing for entire complex, including Banquet Hall and Atrium. All interior Finishes and Furnishings.~ Canadian Forces College, Toronto - as part of the design team with SNC Lavalin. Took leadership roll in the master planning for entire college site. Scope included the Officers College, Officers Residents (both existing and 2 new complexes), Officers' Clubhouse and Guest House.

~ Netscape Canada HQ - client contact and contract negotiation, feasibility study, space planning, interior design, detail development and documentation, finishes and furnishing selection, custom millwork, specification, M&E consultant coordination, tender and project management. ~ Nortel - part of the planning, design and detail work team for the Nortel Mississauga and Ottawa complexes. ~ Footprint Software Inc. (IBM) - client contact and contract negotiation, feasibility study and space planning. Complete interior design and construction documentation including finishes and furniture selection. Project tender and Construction Management. ~ Planned, design and provide specifications for 3 United Parcel Retail locations as initial roll-out 'Boutiques' in the KSA. Acting as Project Manager and coordinated successfully to completion of the 3 projects in Dhahran, Jeddah and Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.~ Call centre layouts and designs and complete construction documentations for Royal Bank Call Centre, Sprint Call Centre. including selection and specifications of furniture and finishes.

Marketing and Operating the business~ Guardian Insurance HQ - multi floor planning and interior design project including construction implementation and administrations services. ~ Other projects with similar services provided as Guardian Ins. above: Morguard Insurance, Ontario Ministry of Energy. ~ Many one-of-a-kind retail projects: Wintario Price Office (1st roll-out), Canadian Trade Pavilion shows in US. ~ Private family visitation and burial vault, Taiwan, ROC~ Industrial design projects: geometric table, cremation urns

~ Set corporate design standards.~ Provide space feasibility studies for branch locations across Canada, Locations including all call centres. Traveling across the country and visiting many smaller cities and towns where IBM had a representational branch location was one of the main motivation for Chris in joining IBM. The 2nd motivation was to learn and gain that special IBM corporate culture.~ All office layout, planning & design - finishes selection and furniture procurement for HQ and all branch facilities.~ Worked on IBM's company wide Incentive Program - setting parameters, budgets, and reward levels for deserving employees. Involved with internal office promotions & gifting programs.
