Manager Field Services - Substations & Test
Current
Engineering Delivery Manager (Edm)
As the current Engineering Delivery Manager, I am responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective provision of engineering design and construction activities for all major infrastructure projects being delivered under contract by the Energy and Infrastructure (E&I) business. This includes (but is not limited to) substations, and overhead and underground electricity assets. With direct influence over the portfolio of projects within E&I increasing to circa hundreds of millions, I have overseen significant organisational growth, and have expanded the organisation’s capabilities in line with market needs.Notable Achievements• I delivered over 10 renewable energy connection projects, allowing Generators to achieve their energy goals, leveraging strong financial and engineering solution skills. • I utilised process improvement techniques to develop and refine the division’s workflow. This now enables it to scale rapidly and effectively, while reducing.
Senior Project Engineer
As Senior Project Engineer (again for Yurika Pty. Ltd.) I performed Field Engineering activities during the construction and commissioning of a series of major infrastructure projects – including Susan River and Childers Solar Farms, with an average project cost of between $5 million and $30 million.Key Responsibilities • Providing technical leadership and direction for an engineering-based project, involving the design, construction and commissioning of electrical plant and associated infrastructure. • Working closely with the Project Manager and Lead Design Engineer to align design deliverables and decisions within the scope, using a site works approach and quality systems.• Managing and procuring all construction certificates, releases, and design documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and practices, and delivering for finalisation. • Providing expert and specific technical consultancy and engineering advice to customers. Notable Achievements• Company representation at the TAMCO factory in Malaysia, where I evaluated manufacturing processes and the quality of 33kV Switchgear.• Developed HV switching capabilities within Yurika. I was responsible for sales, training, and facilitating activities.
Construction Manager
The Construction Manager’s role for Yurika involved the facilitation of daily construction activities for the first Network-connected, large-scale battery storage site in Queensland. This involved a 4MW/8MWh Tesla battery yard connected and integrated to the Ergon Energy Network - the Bohle Plains Battery Energy Storage System.I was approached to fulfill this role in addition to my substantive position of Senior Project Engineer due to the high-profile nature of this innovative, State Government funded project.Key Responsibilities• Expediting significant stakeholder engagement, especially concerning visiting Ministerial and Board officials. This also involved liaising with Tesla regarding all technical, contractual and logistical matters, based on a multimillion-dollar contract for the provision of batteries, inverters and a Service Level Agreement.• Coordinating and leading communications with external entities, such as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, to facilitate information sessions.• Maintaining an onsite Construction Manager role, supervising external resource allocations, safety, scheduling, procurement, QA documentation, and design changes throughout the entire construction phase. • Overseeing the commissioning of both HV infrastructure and Tesla batteries / inverters.• HV Switching activities.Notable Achievements• The successful design, construction and commissioning of Queensland’s first, large-scale, Network-connected battery site.
Concept Scoping Engineer
Over an eight-year period I held two roles. I was a Concept Scoping Engineer, involved in scoping and approval works based on evaluating project economics in relation to the Asset Management Capital Works Program. As an External Substation Design Engineer, I was the responsible technical representative for the management of external contractors involved in the design and construction of high voltage substation projects.Notable Achievements • Developed detailed Project Scopes, Design Briefs, Business Cases and Board papers through the application of detailed engineering analysis and principles. Highlighted Project: - Gladstone South Substation – Approval granted for a substation re-build.• Revised substation and line capital project designs to ensure that they were being designed and constructed to the approved Ergon Energy Standards, through the monitoring of network design practices, and equipment standards, and that scope specifications were met.• Contributed input for capital budgets and estimates and oversaw compliance matters and procedures. • Provided expert technical consultancy and engineering advice to internal and external customers.
