Catherine E. Chronaki (DiplEng’88, MSc90) is the Secretary General at the HL7 Foundation in Brussels is active in digital health Policy and Standardization.Selected Current Projects:Scientific Coordinator xShare project (2023-2026), Interoperability lead in the Gravitate-Health project (2020-2025), gravitate-health.eu working with an outstanding global team, on applying the International Patient Summary of an invidual as a lens to tailor medication leaflets. This work is in close alignment with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the UNICOM project and GIDWG to advance the ISO/IDMP standard and facilitate equivocal identification of Medicines. The first version of the HL7 FHIR electronic production information (ePI) IG was released in August 2023 and EMA has already started the pilot with European regulators.In OneAquaHealth (2023-2027) closely connected to the EFMI One Digital Health Group, we look into the use of HL7 FHIR in realizing the principles of One Health, in citizen interaction with streams in the urban environment. XpanDH (2023-2024) we look into advancing the European EHR exchange format.Selected Past projects:Trillium Bridge (2013-2014, Coordinator) feasibility of exchanging patient summaries accross the Atlantic and Trillium II project (2016-2019, Coordinator) advanced adoption of Patient Summary Standards in Global Innovation Community of Practice.eStandards (2017-2018, Coordinator) roadmap to eHealth standards development based on: (a) Trust & flow; (b) eStandards Compass; (c) eHealth standards artifacts repository (d) a framework for co-creation, governance, and alignment. Past projects paving the way to eStandards that I contributed are openMedicine, AssessCT, eHGI, Antilope, and EXPAND. FAIR4Health (2018-2021) connected HL7 FHIR with open science data(FAIR). It was an impetus to create the EFMI FAIR WG. x-eHealth (2020-22) XpanDH (2022-24)Long tenure in EFMI council: Inistitutional officer (2016-2018), Vice President (2018-2020), President (2020-2022), Vice President for IMIA (2022-2024). Member EC eHealth Stakeholders Group since 2012Nucleus of the European Society of Cardiology, eCardiology WG (2013-2018). Board of Directors HL7 International (2008-2012), (2023), co-chaired the HL7 Affiliate Council (2008-2012), and served committees as Marketing, Education, and the Affiliate Due Diligence Committee.Co-author of 120+ scientific papers focusing on interoperability and standards, served as Associate Editor for IEEE Trans on IT in Biomedicine, member of IEEE EMBS TC on Wearable Biomedical Sensors & Systems.
