I began my working career at Chronos, having requested work experience whilst studying Electronics at the Royal Forest of Dean College, and have been there since.At first, I worked in the Build and Test department, unpacking and taking inventory of network synchronisation equipment coming into the company, fully assembling and testing each product in the customer configuration before the Operations Team would install it.I then moved into the Operations Team itself, travelling at first the country and then worldwide, installing & commissioning GPS synchronisation systems for major telecoms operators. This would involve installing a GPS antenna on the roof of the building, and clock equipment within a rack.Chronos also installs GPS repeater systems, bringing GPS into large facilities or aircraft hangars to be distributed to individual labs or broadcast across an entire area, work which took me to various air bases around the UK.Through this work, I have had a lot of experience in working at height, on rooftops covered in transmitting antennae or using powered cherry pickers, and a lot of experience in worldwide logistics & planning, with each country I worked in offering its own unique challenges.Following my work in Operations, I moved into a pre-sales role. Now I work primarily on the GNSS distribution and vulnerabilities department of the business.My work is varied, with most direct enquires for GPS distribution components coming directly to me as the first point of call, along with helping to specify and design larger projects (my Operations background ensuring that I spec a system that will not only work correctly but is practicable for the site it is destined for), and working on various GNSS research and development projects (often involving a probe installation on-site, with my Operations background again becoming very useful).Always happy to talk regarding GPS/GNSS distribution and the vulnerabilities surround PNT.+44 1594 862 263chris.boulton@chronos.co.uk
