Prolaera serves the accounting industry, enabling large firms to track the Continuing Professional Education compliance of their employees across complicated, overlapping regulators. We were pleased to announce that Prolaera was acquired by Polaris Partners at the end of 2022 and merged with our nearest competitor, LCvista, to create a juggernaut in the industry.In addition to doing full-stack feature work in AWS Lambda, I’ve successfully led efforts to:- employ Agile practices- convert the codebase to TypeScript- implement data validation with AJV- expand test coverage with Jest- enable deployments via TerraformI've also had the opportunity to build a DynamoDb controller to implement the single-table pattern; which allowed us to migrate over 40 individual DynamoDb tables into a single table. This allows us to create of tuned queries that can efficiently return any number of data types in a single request.

I worked with several early stage companies to assist the founders bring new products to market. With my background in product research, design, and web development; I was able to wear different hats depending on need, or fill gaps as necessary.

Jive built internal collaboration software and external forums for Fortune 500 companies and governments. The external forums portion of the business has since been sold to Lithium Technologies.At Jive I successfully lead the effort to modernize frontend development with respect to styling and markup. My mandate was to speed development, improve maintainability, provide a consistent responsive experience, meet WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility, enhance theming capabilities, streamline the build pipeline, and facilitate a migration to React.My role required me to work cross-functionally with design, UX, product management, quality, professional services, and sales to make sure that we’re meeting requirements and that teams across the organization are aware of capabilities. I also created documentation and educated developers in our Portland, Israel and Argentina offices on best practices.

Athletepath was a social network and event ticketing platform based around endurance sport, and was acquired by imATHLETE.Design was a differentiator at Athletepath, and my dual roles facilitated the creation of a flexible, responsive frontend framework that provided a consistent user experience while also giving our designers and customers a lot of leeway.In addition to development and product work, I helped craft our relationship with Wieden+Kennedy (Nike’s ad agency) for branding and design while we were in their tech incubator, a relationship that became the model for future classes.

I built storefronts and brand sites for design related businesses, working with great print designers and helping them translate their work to responsive websites.

Concert Co-Op was a social network based around live music calendars, and the first project a friend and I built after quitting our day jobs. We built a lot of things from scratch and learned a lot.

Eclipse was $1B aviation startup developing a low-cost, six seat, twin engine jet. At the time it was the largest privately funded startup in American history.From my success in a previous role I was asked to step in as an engineering program manager for our troubled aircraft seating development effort, coordinating internal and external engineering teams and supply chain organizations. After negotiating a reduced feature set and a revision of weight and cost targets, we achieved an on-time FAA certification.

In this role I gained a reputation as someone who could take on unwieldy cross-company projects. The biggest such project was the branding of our factories, which needed to serve not just as efficient places of manufacture using the Toyota Production System, but branding statements to customers and investors. This required negotiating a number of compromises across disciplines, but yielded a point of pride for the entire organization.
