In 1997, Patrick Hood founded Cornerstone Research Group in his basement in Beavercreek, Ohio. At that time, words like “start-up”, “entrepreneurial mindset”, and “innovation” were abstract concepts to me. In 1998, I joined CRG as the first full-time employee and those words took on very real meaning. CRG has grown and changed alot since 1997. CRG and its sister company, Rushlight Ventures, are now portfolio of companies of Rushlight Assets, the family office of Patrick and Brenda Hood.As CRG grew, so did my responsibilities – from researcher to SBIR Principle Investigator, to leading and mentoring our growing technical staff, to supporting our administration & operations through talent strategy, recruiting, proposaling, contracting, and executive leadership. One constant has always been my evangelism of CRG culture. Per Guy Kawasaki’s definition in “The Art of the Start”, evangelists proclaim the good news while having the best interest of others at heart. They believe in their product so much they want other to use it too. We have created a corporate culture worth evangelizing. It is based on entrepreneurial mindset, Level 5 leadership (as defined in Jim Collins’s book, “Good to Great”), honesty & integrity, respect & dedication, and innovation & collaboration.I am passionate about strengthening the career connection between education and the workforce, especially STEM-related careers. I volunteer my time to strengthen that connection for students, parents, teachers, professors, administrators, and industry leaders.
