(05/2007 – Current) System Analyst and Development Specialist with Prudential Responsible for the development and maintenance of Prudential’s group insurance billing system and its interface with the Sungard vendor package Compass. Included are Prudential’s web enrollment and beneficiary services provided to each group client.• Created a process to automate WEB enrollment processing for our in-house clients. Previously they had to contact operations to enter a variety of parameters on an individual customer basis in order to send customer data to the WEB for annual enrollment and updates. Automation now bypasses this step and our clients can now enter those parameters themselves and run WEB enrollment processing directly. This has significantly reduced the chances of error.• Key role in developing a process which allowed our users the ability to transfer client data to a self-editing, excel spreadsheet and feed that spreadsheet through to our group insurance systems. Involved the extensive use of Oracle SQL.

(07/1996 – 05/2007) Independent Software Consultant with Prudential Responsible for the development of several internal systems for billing and data maintenance. This involved primarily the use of the microcomputer/server environment with Microfocus Cobol, Oracle DB2 and some Unix scripting.• Have been, largely with the use of Microfocus Cobol and Oracle sql, the primary author in writing individual processes to convert large employer client data into that can be read, converted to one standardized format and the transferred to group insurance eligibility and billing systems. Have been the principal author in writing the system that standardizes client data; approximately 40 Microfocus Cobol programs. Clients include Wal-Mart, Comcast, Time-Warner, CBS, Viacom, Sears, SAP, City of Chicage, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, etc., comprising well in excess of one million employees.• Designed and developed a system to convert client data to standardized formats for beneficiaries, and then return that data back our clients upon request. • Developed a system to send group insurance data to the WEB for employee updates and then re-convert that data back to a standardized format for updates to those insurance systems.• Developed a system which converted external data to case level setup in a vendor supplied software package. This enabled the eventual transfer of individual members, benefits and billing information to that package.

(04/1990 – 07/1996) System Analyst and Developer with Beneficial Management Responsible for the maintenance of an individual life insurance system as well as the development of services and software to support that system. This involved IBM mainframe computers with CICS and VS Cobol. • Developed conversion process in VS Cobol with JCL to transfer 100,000 individual life insurance policies to the Central National Life Insurance Company’s system. This involved a detailed analysis and understanding of another insurance company’s data before the transfer could occur.• Developed a system to interface with Beneficial’s payroll system for benefit payroll deduction. This involved the analysis, design, technical specifications, and development of the full system life cycle.
