Chief Engineer
Provide Engineering / Technical support in the development and commercialization of new products and processes for James Hardie.Since joining James Hardie Bldg. Products in October, 1995, I have served in numerous capacities, including: Project Engineer, Production Manager, Plant Manager, Engineering and Construction Manager, Technical Services Manager and my current role as Chief Engineer. In these roles, I have been instrumental in the advancement of James Hardie's technologies and manufacturing capabilities. I was a key participant in the rapid expansion of this company from mid-90's thru early 2000's. Notable accomplishments include: started-up and managed the Cleburne Plant from 1996 to 2001, participated in numerous other plant start-ups, directed modernizations and expansions at several JH sites, including Waxahachie, TX, Summerville, SC and Blandon, PA., played a key role in the development and commercialization of Artisan Roofing, provided essential technical direction to the team which was first to successfully produce microspheres and have managed multi-disciplined teams in the resolution of complex issues at numerous JH sites.
Board Production Manager
Responsible to manage gypsum wallboard manufacturing operations at the USG Plaster City Plant. In this role, I directed a highly diverse team in the execution of continuous improvement projects for the antiquated lines at PC, while at the same time creating and then implementing a plan to modernize the Plaster City #1 board line. I joined USG in 1985, immediately after graduation from Texas Tech. In my first role as a Project Engineer at the Sweetwater, TX Plant, I participated in a broad variety of projects and gained valuable experience in engineering and project management. After completing several, impactful projects in the Mill and Packing Departments, I advanced to Manager of those areas. Subsequently received advancements to other Dept. Mgr. roles, including Quality and then Engineering and Maintenance. Key accomplishments include calciner burner replacements, roller mill control improvements, installation of waste heat recovery systems, board weight reductions, 10% board line speed increase from wet transfer improvements, individual kiln deck drive design and install, edge mixer development and the PC Line #1 modernization.
Project Engineering Intern
As an Engineering Intern and member of the elite Huber Technology Team, I participated in development of the High Temperature, Fluid Wall Reactor. I provided engineering support for a variety of projects and participated in numerous trials.
Roustabout Intern
as an Engineering Student Intern, I worked in Roustabout Crews and participated in the performance of various tasks that were required to support a very aggressive expansion program. At the time of my employment, Huber O&G was drilling more than 50 wells per year, many of which were completed in summer months. The job afforded great experience, and involved lots of hard work and long hours.
