Highlight: Deliver Operational Reliability, Resiliency, and Recoverability Strategy 2014 – 2017. Developed the strategy and successfully delivered a new operating model focused on higher IT system performance within a sustainable cost structure and grounded on industry “best practices”. The outcomes of this strategy were;• 29% and 15% reductions in staffing and management requirements respectively,• integration of a new second backup data center into the operation with no increase in headcount,• 14.5% net reduction in operating expenses,• 57% reduction in disaster recovery time objectives,• establishment of a IT Operations Control Center,• 30% reduction in incidents caused by change and a 70% reduction in critical incidents.Highlight: Digital Transformation program 2017 – 2019. Successfully delivered faster, more secure, and efficient services that realized over $20m in operational and capital savings over 5 years. Led the engineering and operational aspects of CenterPoint Energy's corporate backhaul network, voice radio / mobile data network, smart grid network, and played a key leadership role in the development and implementation of CenterPoint Energy's long term Smart Grid strategy. Highlight: CenterPoint Energy Smart Grid Deployment 2009 – 2012. As a leader of the Smart Grid Implementation Program, successfully led a team to plan, design, build, and operate an Advanced Meter System (AMS) communications network that consisted of:• covering CenterPoint Energy's 5,000 square mile electric service territory, • the design and construction of 130+ WiMAX meter data aggregation points connected to CenterPoint Energy’s backhaul network,• the deployment of 5,500-meter data collection devices integrated with the aggregation points, to enable communications with 2.4 million meters• development of the operational organization and associated processes to operate and maintain the communications network.Highlight: CenterPoint Energy Smart Grid Strategy & Vision 2005 – 2008. Was a leader on the CenterPoint Energy Smart Grid Program and strategy team that included:• directing the efforts of engineering and development teams in the evaluation of communications technologies that could be utilized for analyzing electric grid diagnostics / automation and advanced meter system infrastructures to support a Smart Grid deployment, • supporting the development of the associated advanced meter system business case,• negotiating technology and system integration contracts, • developing cost estimates, and,• developing the Advanced Meter System Program Management Organization (PMO) Structure.These activities resulted in approval by the Public Utility Commission to proceed with full AMS deployment.

Led the operation of the 24/7 IT infrastructure for CenterPoint Energy consisting of data centers in Houston and Minneapolis, 200+ networked sites, a voice network (9,400 telephone lines), radio network, a Legacy & SAP mainframe operation (3000+mips, 100,000 tapes), a Unix environment (120 servers), an electric/gas Bill Print operation (37m bills annually), Data Security, Desktop management (12,000 PC’s), an IT Helpdesk, and a Local Area Network (400 servers). Also responsible for printing billing statements for Reliant Energy’s electric service ($2m annually). I led 9 managers and a staff of 300 with an annual budget of $75m.Highlight: Re-engineered department with the following results: reduced staffing (392 to 201); reduced annual operating expenses ($73m to $41m); and consolidated management positions (19 to 6) without affecting service levels. Texas De-regulation - separated the computing infrastructure of Reliant Energy into the two resulting companies.
