Charles B. Shields, Jr. ("Chuck") has substantial experience advising high net worth U.S. and foreign families, family businesses, and public entities with respect to tax and asset planning.Mr. Shields is a member of the Wealth Planning Group and frequently counsels ultra-high net worth domestic and international clients on sophisticated strategies that protect and preserve wealth from generation to generation, as well as strategies to implement the sale or succession of a family business. He also counsels domestic and international clients and fiduciaries on techniques that reduce or minimize exposure to income tax and transfer taxes.Mr. Shields has extensive experience assisting blended and non-traditional families with estate planning and tax planning. He also assists professional athletes and their trusted advisors with wealth preservation before, during and after their careers. He also represents personal representatives and trustees in the administration of trusts and estates as well as any disputes that arise between beneficiaries and the decedent’s family members.Mr. Shields is also a member of the Duane Morris Corporate Group and advises closely-held companies and public corporations on complex tax planning and structuring involving corporate mergers and acquisitions, as well as pre-IPO and pre-sale planning for owners. In addition to tax planning, he also advises on general corporate and business matters.Mr. Shields frequently assists clients and accountants with the preparation of federal gift and estate tax returns and represents clients who are audited by a taxing authority.Mr. Shields is admitted to practice in Florida and is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Law and a graduate of the University of Florida.
