I developed a multi-site diversified test automation team in the modem system test division. I established a team in India to reduce the response time to reported issues. To further improve test efficiency the team is participating in the design, development, and implementation of a unified test framework. The unified system combines several existing test frameworks into a single entity to reduce redundancy, improve consistency, and increase automation. I designed and developed a software application management system. The system reduces the time devoted to the management of software deployed to test stations by automating their management and deployment.I was the lead of the software team which implemented the Radio Interface Layer (RIL) for the Android and Symbian operating systems. The RIL is an abstraction layer between the host operating system's telephony services and the radio hardware. In addition to leadership and technical responsibilities, I ensured that the team complied with Qualcomm regulations for open source development.As the lead of the 7500A modem software release team I was the point of contact for the external customer. I established the delivery schedule and contents by gathering requirements from the customer. I ensured successful milestone completion by coordinating with the development and test teams.The Globalstar 2nd Generation User Terminal project provided me the opportunity to lead the software team which created a smaller and cost reduced product. The project required porting of the existing software to an entirely new platform which included moving from x86 to ARM. An additional requirement was an improved display with support for additional languages and functionality.My non-technical responsibilities include performance evaluations, career development, and driving the recruiting and intern programs for the Boulder office. I also represent Qualcomm on the University of Colorado at Boulder Industrial Advisory Board.

As a sales engineer I supported the European sales/marketing team specializing in Qualcomm’s smartphone application framework. I defined new product features by gathering requirements from customers, created demonstrations, and provided technical support. I analyzed GSM specific requirements to assess the impact to the Qualcomm’s framework. I also evaluated 3rd party UI frameworks as potential for integration/replacement.

I was the architect for Qualcomm’s smartphone application framework OEM layer. The basis of the OEM layer was the Chip Interface Layer (ChIL). The ChIL reduced the coupling of Qualcomm’s software to its hardware thereby enabling the application framework to be utilized by external vendors. I also was the customer point of contact which involved debug, integration, test, and on-site support.

I was the lead of the Globalstar software team for the R4.3 and R4.1 products. I authored the ARM porting guidelines document which provided the guidelines on how to transition from x86 to ARM architecture. I actively participated in design and code reviews to assure adherence and quality. I was personally responsible for the Call Processing Subsystem and the design and implementation of the multiple Service Provider re-selection feature.

As a software engineer working on interactive voice response systems (IVRS), I architected a system which combined database access for both IVRS and HTTP systems. The design leveraged existing database access methods to HTTP servers thereby maximizing reuse and minimizing develop effort. The system is recognized in US Patent 5974443.

I was the software architect of a mushroom sorting and grading system. I designed and developed the algorithms and software recognized in US Patent 5253765. The system utilized cameras and high performance processors to identify, sort, and grade mushrooms while traveling along a conveyor belt. I implemented the device drivers for image capture and actuator control.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

I designed and implemented image processing algorithms for a newspaper printing press quality control system. The system integrated special purpose hardware to meet the requirements dictated by the press' speed. In real-time, the system monitored the printed paper for several categories of defects, automatically removing them before being distributed to the customer.

Greater St. Louis Area

I developed and maintained software for an advanced cruise missile guidance system. The subsystem processed real-time sensor data utilizing a cluster of general purpose processors. As targets were identified, course corrections were provided.
