As the Corporate Emergency Program Manager for a major metropolitan healthcare system I led the Emergency Management program for a 1600+ bed, 5 adult and 1 pediatric hospital system, including multiple physician and specialty clinics, home health and hospice, urgent care, surgical centers and other affiliated services. During my time in this role I revitalized the program and led the organization through multiple successful regulatory emergency management surveys with both Joint Commission and DNV.-Managed directly, and indirectly, a team consisting of a security and safety training specialist, and emergency management coordinators across the system.-Coordinated system wide emergency preparedness and response activities with the Mid-South Emergency Planning Coalition and served as a member of the Shelby County Medical Reserve Corps during multiple field hospital deployments.-Created and revised emergency operations, communication, business continuity and recovery plans for the organization, including a comprehensive emergency preparedness quick reference guide.-Implemented initial and recurring disaster training programs for employees at various levels in the organization and developed advanced training for employees with an increased interest in emergency preparedness.-Developed and instructed a variety of courses including Hospital Patient Decontamination, Active Shooter, Mass Evacuation, and Mass Casualty Surge.-Established, and trained, six hospital Disaster Assistance Response Teams. DART is a group of dedicated, multi-disciplinary associates who train regularly to lead others and respond to emergencies and disasters within the hospital system.-In addition to my EM responsibilities, I also served as an instructor for the system wide security departments. Officers were trained and certified on an annual basis in de-escalation techniques, patrol tactics, officer safety, handcuffing, impact weapon, and OC spray, and scenario based training.
