Technical consulting to industry in New Product Development, Project Management, Technology Planning, Portfolio Mgt, Human Capital Development, Lean Innovation, and Global Engineering - with particular expertise in the “Stage-Gate” new product development process.

Led a diverse and highly talented multi-disciplinary engineering and project mgt staff of 40 Managers, Engineers, Designers, Service and Lab Technicians, and Co-op students engaged in new product and business development programs; typically managing over 125 discrete business projects concurrently -- each with unique deliverables, plan and schedule.

• Assembled and managed a cross-functional business team that improved the gross profit of a key product line by 25% ($6M) through value engineering, DFMA, and outsourcing.• Developed and managed a strategic customer account that produced $20M incremental sales of a new product introduction that was forecasted to produce only $7M in the first year.• Developed a new technology conveyor drive product platform that integrates many typically discrete drive components into a packaged, maintenance free assembly. This product lowers total cost of ownership, is revolutionizing the material handling/conveyance industry, and created new local manufacturing jobs.

• Emerson program manager for the development of a unique transmission for inventor Dean Kamen’s stair-climbing “IBOT” wheelchair (featured on NBC’s “Dateline” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBOT• Developed vehicle transfer cases for electric and hybrid-electric buses and trucks.• Developed the design and mfg process for a new technology gear design that increased mechanical product ratings by 50% while reducing material and manufacturing cost.

• Developed Emerson’s “Industrial Automation Center”; a best-in class “Center of Excellence” featuring over 150 dynamometers that greatly accelerates new product development cycles and is recognized as the largest and most comprehensive power flow laboratory in the industry -- perhaps in the world.• Initiated and facilitated the development of a software platform, EMERSONDAQ (featured in “Electronic Business” magazine), that allows engineers in a world-wide distributed workforce to share real-time instrument output and test data over the Internet.• Developed an apprenticeship-based, comprehensive co-op program that has earned notoriety at our partner school, University of Cincinnati, and has resulted in many engineer placements at Emerson.
