Served as employee relations advisor for the School of Science. Mediated disputes between employees and supervisors, handled discrimination and harassment claims. Provided direct support, advice and feedback to managers and HR Administrators on academic and non-academic policies and procedures and progressive discipline process for performance issues. Wrote or advised and reviewed written warnings, performance improvement plans. Conducted investigations both formal and informal independently and partnering with central Human Resources. Managed performance review process focused on improving problematic departments or supervisor and employees experiencing conflict.Acted on behalf of the Dean on a wide range of HR matters including the approval of recruitment strategies under MIT's Affirmative Action Officer for the School, coordinated the AA Serious Search Policy, coordination of all salary reviews, interpretation of school and Institute polices, coordination of Outside Professional Activities for faculty and staff, and special projects.Represented MIT for launch of the New England Higher Education Recruitment Consortium. (NEHERC) Established standards for job descriptions for NEHERC compliance, further supporting diversity in faculty recruitment.Served on Central HR initiatives including the rollout of SAP/HR Payroll Project, the Support Staff Reclassification Task force, and the MIT Council on Staff Diversity. Appointed as Diversity Officer for the School of Science for 7 years. Daily data warehousing/Brioquery reporting regarding new hires, retirements, tenure and promotion tracking.Managed Shared Services Team to evaluate the proposal to combine administrative services for the departments of Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety and Campus Police.
