Whistler Medals Plaza

The coolest job at the Olympics! I had the honour of watching every Olympic athlete receive their medals each night followed by security detail in the "mosh pit" while watching my favourite bands after each medals presentation. Truly an EPIC moment! Loved Our Lady Peace and DEVO.Managed a team of 40 - 60 staff every day in preparation for the evening Medals presentation ceremonies. Main responsibilities focused on security of the venue and positioning staff at all entrances for screening and crowd control.Olympic highlight: Watching Alex Bilodeau receive Canada's first Gold medal of the games and hearing 5000 proud Canadians (the medals plaza venue capacity) singing O' Canada at the top of their lungs. Hockey gold was second.Also had the honour of Supervising the Media Centre during the Para Olympics managing a smaller staff for this 24/7 venue assisting the worlds media. The biggest personal highlight was Supervising the Para Olympic "Parade of Athletes" through Whistler Village as they marched their way to the closing ceremonies. I was truly inspired by the overwhelming positive attitude of all the athletes as they paraded by me high fiving and celebrating their achievements. At one point, I was grabbed by the Japanese team and started dancing with the athletes on the main parade route. A memory etched in my mind forever.
