I am privileged to help lead one of northeastern Ohio's premier construction subcontractors, Steingass Mechanical Contracting, LLC (Steingass). My duties focus on growing the company while maintaining its reputation for good work at a reasonable price, timely completion of its duties, and fairness and safety for its associates. We provide plumbing, HVAC installation, fire suppression, process piping and refrigeration work for commercial subcontracting and service customers. Through our Burrier Service branch, we also install and service heating and cooling systems for residential clients. We are licensed in communities throughout northeastern Ohio and work closely with local authorities and architects to maintain their satisfaction and complete our work on-time and within budget. We are an experienced, licensed, open shop that is looking to add good people.During my four-year tenure at Steingass, our workforce has tripled to over 150 associates and our business is rapidly-growing. Since its inception in 1970, the company has been guided by Christian values, and fairness and hard work have been the cornerstones of its success. VS Capital, LLC launched and managed two investment funds on behalf of accredited retail and institutional investors. The focus of each fund was to procure discounted bank-mediated affordable residential properties in the general vicinity of Charlotte, North Carolina, renovate them them, situate tenants, pay investors based on the rent rolls and await a local real estate recovery. It came earlier than expected and most properties have been sold with proceeds shared between investors and the two general partners. Sales of the remaining homes should be complete by autumn.

Manager of Building Products and Timberland TeamGenerated EVA of $35-$75 million per year and over $70 million in first half of 2012 in our field office. Repayment of key loan at make-whole generated several years of EVA in one transaction, but also resulted in the elimination of my position to reflect the smaller portfolio.Hired as a buy-side analyst to oversee a $500 million public bond portfolio in the paper industry. Coverage grew into a $4 billion global portfolio in the paper, packaging, building materials, homebuilding and timberland private placements and public bonds. Eightfold increase in my portfolio reflected my direct origination efforts, further investments in public bonds and the assignment of other sectors and management responsibilities. Position developed into managing private placement direct origination and agented transactions for John Hancock in basic industries sectors. Employer had considerable ongoing investment needs, so ferreting out new deals was a key deliverable. Analyst duties involved identifying and originating new business from prospective borrowers, managing investment consideration process in agented transactions, presenting and securing approval of an investment committee, monitoring the portfolio and conducting quarterly and annual credit reviews. Support of trading desk to identify and purchase suitable investments in the secondary market and sell out-of-favor holdings was an enjoyable aspect of the job.

Covered approximately 120 fixed income issuers in industrial segments that included paper, packaging, chemicals, metals, mining and building materials. Team received Institutional Investor's #1 ranking for high grade research in basic materials sector for 3 straight years and was top-5 ranked in high yield paper, packaging, chemicals and metals segments. Desk profits in core coverage consistently-highest across industries. Hired originally as senior high grade analyst, was later assigned to high yield desk to support growth of levered lending and proprietary trading in my coverage industries. Duties included writing research reports on companies and industries, marketing to support franchise and stimulate trading and brand development, providing ideas for trading and banking and developing junior analysts.

Held various senior positions in capital markets division during 11-year tenure which included industry analysis, high grade and high yield fixed income research, M&A and corporate investment banking. Developed the firm's Industry Research Division and managed its building materials, paper and packaging research platform, providing credit support for the Bank's $4 billion + lending portfolio. Worked closely with lending colleagues, briefing them on changes in commodity markets, helping them improve the quality of the loan portfolio and sell down positions to other banks and investors. Assisted product specialists in our syndications, merger advisory, private client, debt underwriting and commercial banking units. Authored and published quarterly research on the North American pulp and paper, packaging container and building material industries. Published annual peer review reports on the sectors, as well as ad hoc reports such as timberland investment trends, sector globalization dynamics and the impact of technology on paper consumption. Covered equity and fixed income markets during different stints within the organization, helping the bank to originate and place public and private securities and trade these securities and bank debt. Helped the bank achieve a 38% ROE on the sector during the last three years, despite contracting industry production and sales and the allocation of 30% less economic capital to our portfolio relationships.

Junior Forest Products and Paper Equity Analyst (1990-92)Provided financial modeling, writing, marketing and sales support to senior sector research analyst and broader banking team. Assisted senior analyst in writing text for company-specific reports. Maintained financial models for twenty-two other U.S. companies in the industry. Researched and wrote text for two monthly publications: the Forest Products and Paper Monthly and Trade Review and published ad hoc industry reports.Co-authored the financing summaries for the Aracruz and Riverwood initial public offerings. Supported customers and investment bankers through reports, graphs and topical pieces.Senior Financial Analyst Technology Division (1988 – 1990). Identified and helped eliminate $207 million of redundant and unnecessary costs in a $430 million expense pool without the loss of one internal employee. Developed procedures to allocate $235 million in technology expenses to product lines. Derived charge-back rates for equipment and support services. Produced a quarterly technology bill allocating expenses to product lines and managed divisional relationships with our customers in front office profit centers. Generated summary reports for senior corporate management which detailed firm-wide charges for programming, equipment and mainframe services.
