I try to instill in my students that the value of learning extends beyond what it takes to make a grade and includes furthering your understanding to perform better in work and in life. Many of my alumni have returned to recount stories to my current classes about their experiences beyond graduation, and they have reminded the current students of something that I strongly believe: that learning is a lifelong process. The importance of an education is not isolated to the degree one earns, but includes the opportunities one creates for oneself by how that knowledge can be applied.The best way to facilitate the learning process and foster its continuation beyond the classroom is through student engagement, because I believe the best learning processes are active, not passive. To that end, my teaching style is geared toward methods that effectively enable students to openly participate and not just observe. I incorporate activities and exercises that require student engagement. Over time, I have incorporated more hands-on role plays and activities in my selling classes as a direct result of the input I have received from both my students and the business professionals who hire them. As students improve their skills as a direct result of the feedback they receive from these exercises, I believe the value it provides to them is essential to their development as future business professionals.
