I led and built the analytics platform engineering team for CloudKitchens from scratch to 14+ engineers, and the team is responsible for a real-time data platform to process dozens of billions of order events with less than a minute of processing latency, and less than 500 ms query latency.Later I took on new responsibility to build the billing and payment processing charter for CloudKitchens and Otter, and together with the team in NY we built the fund flow from ground up, re-shaped the invoicing and pricing process across hundred of legal entities, and built the payment processing product to support 4x YoY growth.After that, I took on more additional responsibilities to lead more teams and broader data-driven SaaS product line for the restaurant industry.Beyond the management roles, I also proposed and established several strategic technical investments like metric-based data warehouse, end-to-end data quality initiative and generative AI platforms. Specifically I bootstrapped the investment and product-market-fit process for CloudKitchens. We established multiple money making products on this platform and a dozen of internal facing efficiency-improvement toolings.

I oversaw Uber driver experience end to end at 700+ Airports across the globe. I led the team to build the real-time low latency machine learning system to provide geo-bound real-time forecasting for every airport, and an elastic supply network with products like quick pass, driver wait time and other summoning products. Later on I also took on additional engineering teams, who're responsible for pricing, airport billing, real-time data sharing, etc.Uber Airport represents a significant segment of Uber Ride business, and I led the team to leverage machine learning algorithms and product features and bootstrapped the incremental business growth.

I built the exploratory analytics platform team for Snap based on my team at Metamarket, the startup acquired by Snap early 2018. I led the team to bring a highly scalable interactive exploratory analysis platform to the monetization org inside Snap. Horizontally, we grew the scope of the analytic platform from 1 dataset supporting 1 team, to 30+ datasets to support teams from sales to engineering, from product to business to operational analytics. Vertically we built new applications from diagnostic oriented to confirmatory analysis to domain specific analysis. Additionally, we also built the experimentation platform for Ads, including classic ads experimentation features like pacing, randomization buckets, etc, but also cutting edge concepts at the time like multi-test-proof drill-down, causation diagram, etc. This platform and tooling later got adopted by Snap product organization and became the unified experimentation platform.

I managed 2 mobile platform teams of 10 engineers. Team CI Services is responsible for the frictionless developer workflow so as 100+ Uber product teams could build high-quality mobile features with high velocity on top of a handful mobile apps. Team Mobile Integrity is responsible for the integrity of the mobile apps on every possible device (across platforms, device chassis, geolocation, locale, etc). Together we make sure Uber could keep releasing mobile app updates weekly, while keeping Uber running as reliable as running water.

I managed the team of 7 to build SDK and run time to make mobile applications developed for non-windows platforms compatible with windows runtime. Project Astoria enables applications written in Java/C++ for Android to be run on Windows. More specifically, I led the overall design of the SDK and infrastructures, which includes process model, development model as well as app compatibility on AOSP. Looking back, the linux subsystem work incubated from this workstream is the initial foundation of Microsoft Azure linux environment.Project Islandwood which enables iOS developers to reuse their code when developing Universal Windows Applications.

I worked on the layout and rendering engine of Internet Explorer for desktop as well as mobile devices. I created the optical zoom algorithm that’s 11x faster than the original zoom experience for mobile devices. After that, my work around sub-pixel rendering became one key selling point of Microsoft’s mobile browser featured on product announcement. Later on, I worked with my manager and another engineer to propose replacing the Trident layout engine with the Chrome layout engine with a working prototype.During my days in this area, I filed and granted multiple patents around layout and rendering, and HTML document recognition.
