Mr. Hurst is currently a Principal Risk Specialist in Capital One's Operational Risk Challenge & Advisory (ORCA) group. He provides 2nd line effective challenge and advice to the 1st line on their execution of various risk assessment processes. Prior to his move to Capital One, Mr. Hurst was a Senior Financial Analyst in the Statistics department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. He worked closely with banks in the fifth district to analyze data, examine trends, and ensure proper financial reporting. His work was used by Economists at the Board of Governors to help steer U.S. Monetary Policy. He has traveled to perform complex on-site reviews at many of the largest banks in the country. At his prior position at SNL Financial, Mr. Hurst worked alongside the Mergers & Acquisitions global team to obtain, study, and scrutinize M&A transaction information. He also communicated on a daily basis with deal participants and advisers to cultivate relationships within the industry.Mr. Hurst displays proficiency in various computer applications including Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint. He has exposure to SQL programming language, is certified in C++, and has experience in Microsoft Sharepoint. He also has a VA Real Estate Salesperson's license, a Bachelor's degree in Finance (minor in Economics) from James Madison University, and worked as an Intern at JMU's Office of International Accounting.
