Hydromea is a Swiss company started by an MIT alum developing innovative technology to make water quality measurements available at an unprecedented resolution, and much faster than traditional methods. Hydromea developed a new class of small autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) that are designed to cooperate in large groups. Instead of measuring only in one place at a time, their system can automatically measure many locations simultaneously - creating rich 3D data sets with high spatial and temporal resolution. Their robots can cover volumes of several square kilometers up to 300 meters depth.

Y Combinator is an American seed accelerator, started in March 2005. Y Combinator has spawned a number of highly successful companies and is consistently ranked at the top of U.S. accelerators. I am advising the CEO on technology strategy.

Socure is a New York-based software company that provides consumers and businesses with a next-generation security SaaS solution to fight against the risk of identity theft and related fraudulent activities. It enables the next-generation of multi-factor authentication by applying machine learning techniques with biometrics and data intelligence from email, phone, IP, social media, and the broader internet. The company capitalizes on alternative data that has proven to provide better fraud prediction capability. I'm advising the founding team on technology and business strategy.

Everything has changed except the fan-cooled heat sink; yet cooling is essential in protecting the electronics that have benefited from Moore’s Law. CoolChip Technologies’ patented and patent-pending Kinetic Cooling Engines provide significant advantages across the board of up to 50% improvement in cooling and can achieve up to a 2x smaller form factor at significantly lower noise levels.

I partnered with Uber's co-founder Oscar Salazar to design and implement state of the art infrastructure to accelerate the growth of a 30+ year old transportation company and turn it into one of the most advanced commuter logistics providers in the world. We were funded by TPG Growth and got acquired by Enterprise Holdings (06/2016). At Ride I built and managed a global engineering team and developed patent-pending clustering and scheduling algorithms and business processes, a REST API, as well as web and mobile applications.

We designed and implemented a high-performance, low-latency, multi-threaded, RFC 4226-compliant two-factor authentication infrastructure that included cloud and mobile components. The company was acquired by Twilio.

Clarium is Peter Thiel's $6 billion global macro hedge fund. I was an early employee working with Peter Thiel and Joe Lonsdale, and designed and implemented a variety of trading strategies using Palantir Finance across equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities markets for the global macro portfolio. I also led a complete redesign of Clarium's pricing analytics and risk tools through a combination of Palantir Finance, Matlab and RiskMetrics.

VECARIUS is an early-stage company playing an active role in the clean-tech revolution. VECARIUS is a system integrator providing complete solutions involving power and thermal management systems to increase energy efficiency in various commercial and military applications. I was advising the CEO on technology.

I managed the infrastructure used in portfolio construction and rebalancing, pre-trade analysis, futures hedging, trade execution (including currency overlay), post-trade processing, and transaction cost analysis for Global Alpha and Global Equities Opportunities funds. I also designed and implemented new analytics tools to analyze transaction costs for U.S., European, and Japanese equities markets.

I managed algorithmic trading of US Treasury and Agency markets and Lehman’s electronic trading book, identified various relative value arbitrage opportunities in the U.S. Treasury market, analyzed idiosyncratic risk exposure and developed hedge strategies, and developed data mining and modeling tools in Matlab to improve Lehman’s hit rate.

During my Master's at MIT I wrote my Master’s thesis entitled “High-Bandwidth Packet Switching on the Raw General-Purpose Architecture” and published it at the International Conference on Parallel Processing. It described an ultra-fast (5.5 million packets per second) high-bandwidth packet switching fabric on a FPGA modeling 16 RISC microprocessors that I built using a mix of C and Assembly. I switched to AI & Robotics for my PhD, working on problems in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping for underwater robots with Prof. John Leonard.
