James graduated from Montclair State University, having earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Music Theory/Composition with a minor in Harry Partch Microtonal Studies. In 2022, James also completed his Masters degree in Education from The College of New Jersey. He is currently pursuing a Supervisor Certificate at William Patterson University.James has previously served as Music Director, Treasurer, and Business Manager of the Charles Seller Foundation, a non-profit charity musical theater group based in Bloomfield, NJ, and as the music director for C.A.S.T. (Community Actors Student Theater) in Kenilworth, NJ. He is a freelance performer on trombone, euphonium, and keyboards in the greater Northern NJ/NYC area, and continues to compose as a member of ASCAP. (The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) James has studied composition with Patrick J. Burns and Daniel Beliavsky and trombone with James Markey, Anthony Mazzocchi and Alan Ferber. His original works have been performed by the Palisades Virtuosi, Bloomfield Youth Band, Montclair State University Brass Quintet, and international recording trombonists Anthony Mazzocchi, James Miller, and John Rojak, among others. James currently serves as the Director of Scholarships for New Jersey DeMolay and an instrumental music teacher in the Lyndhurst Public School District.
