Chyvette is a Hong Kong and UK qualified barrister, chartered accountant and former investment banker. She has been in successful private practice in Hong Kong for over 20 years and is also called to the bar in England and Wales. She specialises in Securities and Futures Commission regulatory matters, listing, advisory and advocacy work; civil litigation/civil fraud cases; and criminal white collar, insider dealing, corruption, corporate fraud, tax and financial crime work. She prosecutes for the Department of Justice but specialises in high level and international criminal defence cases and civil dispute litigation. She sat as a member of the Inland Revenue Board of Review. Chyvette is a highly talented barrister, focussed on delivering client tailored advice, advocacy and strategic case management plans. She draws on many years of multi-disciplinary experience having worked as both an accountant and an investment banker before coming to the bar. She believes in providing detailed, fact specific advice to clients, well understanding that each case is unique, the particular needs and goals of her clients being at the forefront of her thinking. Chyvette has been involved in many of the biggest financial and important cases tried in Hong Kong over the last 20 years including the Shanghai Land case, Tony Chan and the Chinachem matters, Akai Holdings v James Ting, and the Lamma Ferry disaster. She has assisted companies the listing process of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. She was co-author of the chapter on sale of goods in the 1st edition of Hong Kong Chitty. Chyvette is bilingual and speaks English and Cantonese fluently, having been schooled in Hong Kong and England and having attended Cambridge University. She enjoys theatre and cinema and is an avid reader. She is an experienced yoga and Pilates practitioner. She is also a TEFL qualified English teacher.
