As an ACA Audit Trainee, I was tasked to provide assurance on financial statements for various clients. I worked with both Partners and many different audit teams from an early stage, which required gaining a quick understanding of audit parameters and complex business operations. This enabled me to quickly become part of the onsite working team. This required excellent communication skills, both internally and externally. I had the opportunity to audit clients across a range of industries, such as farming, retail, distribution, and the most unique being leather manufacturing.As a junior auditor, I was mainly tasked with testing the Profit and Loss Statements. This required understanding the client and the environment they operated in so I could adapt and implement adequate tests. This required me to think outside of the box on many occasions and then communicate with the client to identify and test a necessary sample.

I worked at Co-Op parallel to my undergraduate studies. I started the role as a Customer Team Member but was quickly promoted to Team Leader. My initial responsibilities were to serve customers, answer queries and ensure the shelves were fully stocked. Upon promotion, these duties expanded to include more responsibility and more leadership. As a Team Leader, I was responsible for interviewing new staff, forecasting sales, managing the restocking, and the opening and closing of the branch. I was also responsible for the cash flow.

Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was employed as an Officer Cadet in the Exeter University Officer Training Corps which is under the wing of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. My time with UOTC led to me becoming a fully qualified member of the Army Reservists, expanding my leadership and communication skills, and sharpening my problem-solving skills. As part of my training, I have had opportunities to undertake military exercises, regular military training, and adventure training which has significantly developed my confidence and develop my teamwork skills in high-pressure environments.
